HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa.

Authorities in central Pennsylvania say four people are hurt after a police chase ended in a violent crash.

Police in Hollidaysburg say it happened about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after the car initially sideswiped another vehicle.

Police started following it on Route 22, and the car eventually hit a curb, lost a wheel and hit a sign post and a tree.

The Altoona Mirror reports that the car then hit several newspaper boxes and sheared off a fire hydrant before coming to rest on its roof.

The identities of the injured haven’t been released. Police say they apprehended a man who tried to leave the scene.

Hollidaysburg is about 35 miles southwest of State College.
