Information session set on Habitat homes

YOUNGSTOWN

Habitat for Humanity will have an orientation session Oct. 6 to educate families about whether they qualify for homes built by the organization.

Executive Director Monica Craven said families will learn about the income and credit requirements for buying a home through the organization.

“They have to have the right income, the right credit and be willing to work for it and with us,” Craven said, adding that most families who qualify make about $12,000 to $20,000 annually.

Habitat for Humanity houses in Mahoning County are sold to low-income families at no profit and with zero-percent-interest loans. They offer affordable mortgage payments ranging from $300 to $500 monthly.

Families will get information about how to qualify and fill out applications for housing.

Habitat for Humanity built three homes this year and hopes to build four more in 2011.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in St. John’s Episcopal Church at 323 Wick Ave. Call 330-743-7244 for more information.
