YSU LIVE | Penguins lead 31-14 early in fourth
YOUNGSTOWN
The YSU football team leads two-time defending league champion Southern Illinois 31-14 early in the fourth quarter.
The Penguins have scored 31 unanswered points after falling behind 14-0 and are dominating both sides of the ball right now. A big key has been turnovers: YSU has forced two fumbles (recovering both), intercepted two passes and blocked a punt.
Jamaine Cook made it 28-7 on a 1-yard touchdown run with six minutes left in the third quarter. That score was set up by YSU LB Deonta Tate's beautiful one-handed interception that gave YSU the ball at the SIU 22.
Stephen Blose added a 37-yard field goal on the first play of the fourth quarter. The score was set up by Mark Brandenstein's punt block.
