Catholics in their 20s and 30s, single and married, are invited to meet and pray with other young adults at the 5:30 p.m. parish liturgy on Oct. 2 at Kent University Parish Newman Center, 1424 Horning Road, Kent.
Participants are encouraged to arrive at the church at 5:15 p.m. for seating.
The Rev. Chris Luoni, pastor and diocesan director of vocations, will lead the liturgical celebration.
The Fall Fest celebration will follow in the hall with food and beverages.
This free event is sponsored by the Diocese of Youngstown Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and the Kent University Parish.
The first YAMS took place in February 2008 at St. Charles Church in Boardman. Subsequent events have taken place at Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren and St. John Church in Canton.
Another YAMS will take place at the Canton Knights of Columbus Hall on March 4, 2011.
Many young adults have contacted the diocese seeking ways to better connect with the church, seeking a sense of belonging, looking to find peers who have the same values, and hoping to offer their talents and skills for the greater good. This young adult Mass and social is one step in helping these young adults connect.
During the Fall Fest Social, there will be an information table with brochures, flyers, and resources to help the young adults take the next step.
Young adults also may connect with each other and to resources via the “DOY-YAM” group on Facebook.
