Sports injury prevention class set
The Mahoning Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a sports injury prevention and first-aid class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its training facility at 8381 Market St., behind Bruno Bros. Restaurant.
The five-hour class meets all requirements set by the Ohio Department of Education for coaches at any level.
The $45 course fee includes a handbook, participant supplies, and three-year certification.

Lady Bulldogs win AAC tournamemnt
The Poland Bulldogs girls varsity golf team wrapped up the regular season AAC Red Tier Championship by taking scoring honors at Tamer Win Golf Course Sept. 20 at the league’s 18 Hole AAC Girls Golf Tournament.
Poland scored 343, Canfield had 368, Niles shot 429 and Howland scored 434.
Poland’s Maria Mancini was tournament medalist at 73 and teammate Allison Mitzel was runner-up with 81.
Giana DiBenedetto shot a 91 and Melinda Hannon carded a 98. Christine Bilas shot a 99, just missing the scoring count for the 18-hole tournament.
Poland’s golf team too much for Canfield
The Canfield varsity girls golf team lost to Poland Sept. 14 182-170.
Poland’s Allison Mitzel led the Bulldogs with a 36. Maria Mancini shot a 36, while Kayla Cerimele shot a 47 and Christine Bilas carded a 51.
