Send your junior high student Down Under
Your junior high or high school student could become a world traveler and expand their world view in just two weeks.
The People to People Ambassador program offers students in grades five through 12 educational journeys that foster friendship, build the foundation for personal success and offer unique access to people, places, and activities.
Program delegations are built around local communities, so students make friends locally before they travel globally. This year’s Junior High Program is “Experience Australia,” a 15-day program. This program includes a two-night stay with a welcoming family, learning to throw a boomerang and playing didgeridoo from Australian Aborigines and participating in a local group service project.
Ambassadors on this program will earn special insights into marine biology, the history of Sydney’s first settlements, zoology, geology, botany, world heritage sites and aboriginal culture.
An informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Fitch High School Auditorium.
The delegation leader selected to conduct this year’s junior high experience is Harold Wilson, a 37-year veteran teacher from Austintown who has managed local Student Ambassadors three times in the past five years.
