Ron Infante, Canfield Village Middle School fifth- and sixth-grade principal, hosted the school’s annual open house Sept. 16.

The school opened its doors to students and their parents for an evening of tours and meeting the teachers. It also gave the students an opportunity to give their parents a glimpse of their school day.

As he greeted each parent and student at the door, Infante said, “It is fun to see old students I had as a teacher come back to the school as parents of our current students.”

According to Infante, the teachers prepare for this night to make the parents feel welcome at the school. They decorate their classrooms and display the students’ artwork and projects.

“We only hold this open house once a year, but parents are welcome at the school anytime. Our school is better when adults are here and involved. The school is part of the community and we welcome parent input,” said Infante, who has been the Canfield Village Middle School principal for 19 years.

As the students gave their parents tours of the school, they also had the chance to meet and talk to the teachers. Many teachers had lines of parents and students waiting to talk to them, whether is was to just meet them or ask questions.

As a fundraiser, the Canfield Village Middle School PTO had tables set up in the hallway to sell Canfield Cardinals spirit wear, including T-shirts and sweatshirts. They also offered Cardinal school supplies such as book covers, pencils and rulers.
