Anniversaries celebrated
Bishop George V. Murry will celebrate a special Mass at 2 p.m. Oct. 3 in St. John the Baptist Church in Canton to mark the wedding anniversaries of 130 couples who are being honored for a total of 6,154 years of wedded life ranging from 25 to 70 years. This event is sponsored by the diocesan Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life. A cake and punch reception, hosted by St. John the Baptist parish, will be in the school hall for the honored couples and their families after the Mass. George and Barbara Watts of St. Paul Church in North Canton, and William and Lucy Gialluca of St. Anthony Parish in Canton are the longest married couples, each celebrating 70 years of marriage. The wedding anniversary celebration includes renewal of marriage vows at Mass, and a personalized certificate. Listed are couples from Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties; also being honored are couples from Ashtabula, Portage and Stark counties.
