Lions clubs, Wal-Mart provide eye care

Local Lions Clubs continued to fulfill Helen Keller’s challenge to be the Knight’s of the Blind.
The Austintown Lions Club joined forces with Wal-Mart Vision Centers and worked the eye screening area at the medical building Sept. 1 at the Canfield Fair.
The Lions examined many residents for glaucoma, did field vision and eye charts, while Wal-Mart performed an auto refractor eye test. A total of 878 area resident were screened.
Several other Lions Clubs in district 13-D finished out the remaining days of the fair and Wal-Mart Vision Centers gave out 800 free eye-care packages. The effort was coordinated by Canfield Lions Club member Ted Filmer.
