Man injured in Warren shooting

WARREN — A city man in his early 20s was in critical but stable condition late this afternoon at St. Elizabeth Health Center a few hours after he was shot multiple times in the parking lot behind the ACOP Center, 2051 Niles Road SE.

Police interviewed witnesses and are piecing together what happened during the 2:15 p.m. shooting, said Detective Wayne Mackey. Any additional witnesses should call Mackey at 330-841-2684, he said.

ACOP sits on the edge of the Trumbull Homes public housing complex, but Mackey said he doesn’t know if the shooting was related to the complex or whether the victim lives there.

About a third of a mile further east, on the other side of the housing complex is the Willard K-8 campus of Warren City Schools. Mackey said he didn’t notice any students in the area of the shooting while he was there investigating.
