Classes offer sign language for parents and their babies
YOUNGSTOWN
The public is invited to an interactive class in which parents and their babies learn basic sign language to communicate and encourage speech development. (American Sign Language is taught, not gestures.)
Research shows that babies who sign at an early age have a larger vocabulary, higher IQ and reduced temper tantrums because they can communicate their needs and wants before they know how to speak. With music, books and fun activities, you and your child will begin to communicate on a whole new level.
Class is geared for children 6 months to 2 years old. The class session is four weeks for one hour a day, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct, 5, 12, 19, and 26.
The cost is $50 for the full session including a sign language resource folder. The resources are improved from previous classes.
Classes take place at the Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley, 2008 Lynn Ave. Payment in advance will hold your spot. Call 330-540-1025 or e-mail ksteedazoominternet.net.
