‘Community congress’ set Monday in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN

About 1,000 Mahoning Valley residents are expected to attend a “community congress” to discuss the issues of vacant properties and job creation at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St. in Youngstown.

Yvette McGee Brown, the Democratic lieutenant governor candidate, will attend the event as will other candidates and officeholders. They will answer questions from local residents about neighborhood and economic revitalization, and other issues.

The event is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative as part of its nonpartisan electoral effort.

The MVOC will hold a similar event at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Park Ave. in Warren.
