The American Cancer Society Cortland Relay For Life will have a Hope Ride bicycle ride Sunday. The ride begins in the parking lot of the Trumbull Campus of Kent State University, 4314 Mahoning Ave. NW.
Registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. The ride is about 34 miles long, and riders can take part from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The donation to ride is $10 per person or $30 per family. Children 5 and under ride free. T-shirts will be available for $5.
The ride will navigate the Industrial Parkway and beyond to the Western Reserve Greenway bike path. Snacks, refreshments and raffles are some of the other planned activities.
The ride is open to people of all ages and skill levels. Bicycle helmets are required, and riders must sign a waiver letter before riding the trail.

Unit dedication

A blessing and dedication of the new pediatric unit at St. Joseph Health Center will be at 2 p.m. Monday. “The new pediatric unit signifies the continued commitment to making St. Joe’s a full-service hospital,” said Anna Klejka, nurse manager of maternity and pediatric services. “Pediatric and maternity services will now be located on the same floor and will provide a unique women’s and children’s service to better accommodate patients and families.”
Spine scans

WellnessOne of Warren will be doing free computerized scans of the spine at the Niles Scope Senior Center, 14 E. State St., from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday during their arts and craft show. Red Cross training in CPR and AED

On Saturday, participants can attend training from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at American Red Cross of Mahoning Valley, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, to learn CPR & AED for adults along with CPR & rescue breathing for infants and children.
A special course fee of $55 will enable participants to spend the day learning CPR for adults, children and infants, how to rescue choking victims, rescue breathing for babies and children, and signs and symptoms of life-threatening emergencies.
Adult CPR/AED, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., is $45. Those who would like to learn CPR for children and infants, but who don’t need certifications can join the youth segment at 1:30 p.m. for $35. For further information or to register, call 330-392-2551 or 330-726-6063.
‘Safety Saturday’ session planned

The American Red Cross of the Mahoning Valley is offering its most-popular safety-training package. The last “Safety Saturday” for the season is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Boardman Training Center, 8381 Market St.
The training includes adult CPR and first-aid training for the special package rate of $50 per student. Anyone interested in learning first aid without certification can skip CPR in the morning and register for the afternoon session, 1 to 4 p.m. for $30. To register, call 330-726-6063 or 330-392-2551.
