Night construction will begin Thursday on state Route 46. Crews will work from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Route 46 from Niles-Vienna Road to Robbins Avenue. The resurfacing work is scheduled to be completed Sept. 30.
Children’s FunFest

A Children’s FunFest will be at the Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus, 6505 Market St., from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday.
The event will have free health screenings, face painting, temporary tattoos, a teddy-bear clinic (bring your favorite teddy bear or doll), a scavenger hunt, craft and coloring stations, Bounce Around, pony rides, games, prizes, food, kids karaoke and dance and cheerleading demonstrations. The FunFest is sponsored by area Walmart stores, who also will host a basket raffle.
Habitat orientation
Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County is having an orientation for new volunteers at 6 p.m. Thursday at Victory Christian Center, 3899 McCartney Road, Lowellville. Anyone interested in volunteering with Habitat should attend the orientation. At the meeting, representatives will provide information about Habitat and volunteer opportunities.
Meanwhile, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Habitat volunteers and sponsors will gather at 8 Maranatha Drive, on Youngstown’s East Side, to dedicate the organization’s newest home. The home is being built for Vera Ellis and her family.
Work started on the house in February, and hundreds of volunteers have worked on it. Volunteers came from Zion Lutheran Church, Austintown Community Church, Westminster College, Youngstown State University and many others. At the dedication, there will be a tour of the new home, and refreshments will be provided.
Child car-seat checks

Burlington Coat Factory and the Trumbull County Board of Health will have a free child car-seat safety inspection from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the store, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, behind the Eastwood Mall.
Stolen car found
BOARDMAN
A car stolen from Donnell Ford was found by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Ravenna. It had been crashed and abandoned. The 2008 white Toyota Scion was found by troopers Monday morning, police said.
A Donnell Ford employee told police officers that the vehicle was last seen at the lot Friday, that no car keys were missing from the dealership and that no glass was found where the car had been parked. A lock on a gate had been cut, police said.
Village Hall closed
POLAND
Village Hall will be closed today through Friday. Paula McFarland, the administrative assistant-court clerk, will be at a conference for those three days. Those who need to pay fines or tickets can send a money order or cashier’s check to the Village Hall at 308 S. Main St. Poland, Ohio, 44514. Regular hours, 8:30 to 4 p.m., will resume Monday.
