Police searching for driveway robber

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for the man who robbed a 71-year-old South Side man trying to unload groceries in his driveway.

According to police, the older man noticed a man walk past his property in the 200 block of East Avondale several times just after 3 p.m. Monday, appearing to be on a cell phone.

The victim told officers the black male, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 250 pounds, grabbed him from behind and placed what felt like a gun to his back. The thief demanded the man’s money, then took his wallet, $3 cash and a blank check.

The thief pushed the older man into the car before running off, but the victim was able to jump from the car and chase the thief a short distance before losing sight of him.
