Struthers school board OKs paving bus compound

STRUTHERS — The Struthers Board of Education awarded a contract for installing a drain and paving at the school district’s bus compound.

Butch and McCree Paving of Hillsville, Pa., won the contract with a bid of $58,4089.

The work is expected to start next week, said the district’s treasurer, Michael Evanson, at tonight’s board meeting.

Evanson said the bus lot is gravel now, and it slants. Water pools there because of that, he said. The drain will be installed in the northeast corner.

Evanson also said the blacktop paving will keep moisture from rusting the buses and damaging their electrical systems.

The project is expected to be finished in two weeks, he added.
