POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Sept. 17
Criminal damaging: Someone broke a basement window to a vacant residence in the 500 block of Washington Avenue.
Breaking and entering: Occurred in the 10 block of South Elruth Court, where a 15-speed mountain bike and another item were stolen.
Theft: Medication and $60 were missing from a car in the 200 block of East Kline Street.
Theft: A man reported the theft of money and checks from his home in the 100 block of West Wilson Avenue, and that two checks were written without consent.
Recovered property: Two bicycles were found after two boys had reported them stolen at a U.S. Route 422 business.
Sept. 18
Theft: A $350 tailgate was stolen off a truck in the 500 block of Park Avenue.
Aggravated menacing: An Elruth Court man said a group of men came to his apartment and challenged him to a fight.
Assault: A man at a North State Street store reported another man spit in the accuser’s face.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle’s rear window was broken in the 40 block of Stambaugh Street, for a $500 damage estimate.
Theft: Someone removed a tailgate from a truck in the 700 block of North St. Clair Avenue.
Sept. 19
Arrest: Police responded to an unrelated call on South Davis Street before charging 27-year-old Stacy Dworak of Struthers with disorderly conduct. An intoxicated Dworak screamed and swore at a Dearborn Avenue man and failed to desist, a report showed.
Criminal mischief: Eggs were tossed at a car in the 100 block of Crumlin Avenue.
Arrest: Officers responded to an unwanted person on West Liberty Street and charged Matthew Karlovic, no information given, with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after saying he refused to cooperate.
Sept. 20
Aggravated menacing: An East Second Street woman told police her boyfriend had threatened to break the windows and burn down her parents’ residence.
Criminal mischief: A vehicle in the 80 block of Main Street was found with a smashed driver’s-side window.
HUBBARD
Sept. 15
Theft: Someone in a beige vehicle left a Shell True North gas station, 204 W. Liberty St., after having stolen two cartons of cigarettes.
Drugs: Police received a report of drug-related activity on Hillview Drive.
Sept. 16
Burglary: To an apartment in the 300 block of Parkview Drive.
Sept. 17
Possible fraud: A West Park Avenue woman reported a possible scam via the mail.
Theft: An employee with Penn-Ohio Motorsports, 121 E. Liberty St., told police two women tried to take their motorcycle without having paid for services.
Sept. 18
Possible assault: Police charged Shawn Ballard, 30, of 112 Hager St., Hubbard, with aggravated menacing after getting a report of a man, possibly with a knife, lying in the road in the 100 block of North Main Street.
Assault: A woman reported her daughter had been assaulted at a football game in the township.
Sept. 19
Assault: Officers responded to a fight between two males at a North Main Street restaurant.
LIBERTY
Sept. 16
Arrest: Police booked 59-year-old Joann K. Callaway, 936 Margaret St., Youngstown, at the Mahoning County jail. She was wanted by township authorities on a charge of failure to appear in court.
Fraud: A Logan Gate Road woman checking her bank statement found two unauthorized $50 transactions.
Breaking and entering: A $1,000 motorcycle was removed from a garage someone had entered in the 2900 block of Anderson-Morris Road.
Theft: A charge was pending against a 41-year-old Youngstown man after two wristwatches were stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.
Theft: A Youngstown man, 19, was accused of, but not charged with, stealing a compact disc, a DVD and an energy drink from Walmart.
Theft: Anna M. White, 54, of 1424 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, was charged with taking $50 worth of cologne and related products from Dollar General in the Liberty Plaza.
Theft: Three women in their 20s, two of Youngstown and one from Boardman, reportedly stole $40 worth of merchandise from Walmart, though none had been charged at the time of the report.
Sept. 17
Arrest: Liberty police took custody of 28-year-old Kenneth E. Aflleje, at the Mahoning County Jail. Aflleje, of 43 Walter St., Campbell, was wanted on a theft charge.
Recovered property: A license plate that had been lost or stolen in Hubbard was found in the window of a Belmont Avenue store after a worker retrieved it from the parking lot.
Theft: A Santa Monica Drive woman told officers two people came to her residence and removed firearms that belonged to an estate.
Arrest: Officers booked Suzanne Bellino, 57, of 6469 Mason Ave., Hubbard, at the Mahoning County Jail. Bellino was wanted on a theft charge.
Sept. 18
Arrest: Police pulled over a vehicle near Trumbull and Hadley avenues, where they arrested 46-year-old Kim E. Bonner, 2930 Biscayne Ave., Youngstown, on an assault warrant from Boardman.
Menacing: A Scott Lane man said his 10-year-old daughter was being harassed as she sold candy nearby.
Sept. 19
Harassment: A Tuttle Lane woman said a neighbor has been making and sending such calls and text messages.
Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to enter a residence in the 1100 block of Townsend Avenue, apparently by placing a sled under a rear window. The intruder was likely scared off, however.
Drugs: Richard J. Gemmell II, 18, of 213 Russell Ave., Niles, was charged with possession of marijuana after police said a suspected marijuana cigar was found during a traffic stop on Pleasant Valley Road.
Fraud: A Townsend Avenue man discovered a $703 unauthorized purchase had been made to his account.
Recovered property: An abandoned bicycle in the 900 block of Mosier Road was found and turned over to police.
Assault: A man reported having been punched as he left a Belmont Avenue eatery.
Sept. 20
Drugs: A traffic stop on Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of 38-year-old Randy J. Bucci, 1917 Cardigan St., Niles, on charges of trafficking a controlled substance, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, after police said a bottle containing one Xanex tablet without a prescription, a bag of suspected marijuana and a digital scale were found. Bucci also was wanted on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
