Wine-tasting event will fund scholarships

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Air Reserve Base Community Council and Youngstown State University are planning a fundraiser for the YARBCC Scholarship Fund.

“Splendor in the Glass,” a wine-tasting spectacular, will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at Alberini’s Restaurant, 1201 Youngstown-Warren Road (Route 422), Niles.

Tony Butala of The Letterman vocal group will be giving samples of his Castlebrook wines from his vineyard in Napa Valley, Calif. (Maybe there will be a song or two!)

Vintners, wine distributors and an array of hors d’oeuvres and wines will greet guests, who can also participate in a silent auction and raffle. Entertainment will also be provided.

The event helps fund a scholarship in honor of Richard Alberini Sr. The YARBCC awards two $2,500 scholarships each year to members of the armed services who are stationed at the Vienna base or their family members.
