The Citizens Committee for the Library Levy has scheduled a fundraiser, “Beer, Burgers and Bocce for Books,” which will begin at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the MVR in Youngstown.

The purpose of the event is to help the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County by promoting passage of its 1.8-mill five-year operating levy on the November ballot. MVR was chosen to host the event because it is a neighbor of the Main Library.

The committee has several activities planned in addition to bocce: cornhole games; a 50-50 raffle; and an auction in a bag, which includes many baskets donated by the library staff.

Guest bartenders and hosts will include Nick Eason of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tom Carney, Clarence R. “Sonny” Smith, Chris and Ed Muransky, Denise DeBartolo York, Melinda Wolford, Todd Franko, Dominic and Jackie Marchionda, Carlton Sears, A.C. McCullough and Kelly Stevens, Paul McFadden, Dr. Cynthia Anderson, Brian Williams, Joe Schiavoni, Phil Kidd, Geri and Bernie Kosar, Ben Constantini, Don Constantini, Diana D’Alesio, Bob Mastriana, Bill Costas, Dr. David Richie and many others.

Tickets for the fundraiser cost $15 per person and may be bought at the MVR or at the door the evening of the event.
