Johnsons mark 50th anniversary with family


YOUNGSTOWN

Mr. and Mrs. Rayfield Johnson Sr. marked their 50th wedding anniversary at a private family dinner on Aug. 27 at their Youngstown home.

Hosting the dinner were the couple’s daughter, Taunya (Fred) Harvey of Youngstown. The Johnsons also have two grandsons.

Mr. Johnson and the former Thelma Hickson were married on Aug. 27, 1960, in the rectory of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Mrs. Johnson, a housewife, is of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Johnson, a Methodist, retired in 1994 from the Youngstown Street Department, where he was a heavy-equipment operator for 30 years. He was shop steward for 25 years for Teamsters Union Local 377.

The Johnsons also had two sons, Rodney and Rayfield Jr., who are deceased.
