Family celebrates 60th anniversary with the Ruses

Donald and Janette (Herman) Ruse of Youngstown celebrated the 60th anniversary of their wedding on Sept. 12 with their children and grandchildren during a family dinner at Caff Capri in Boardman.

The Ruses’ children are Jeffrey (Marcia), Kenneth (Debbie) and Dennis (Pam) Ruse, all of Youngstown.

The Ruses also have nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a granddaughter-in-law.

The couple were married Sept. 16, 1950, at Calvary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ruse was a self-employed hairdresser at home and at Omni Manor before she retired in January 2005. She is a member of Shrine Ladies, Austintown Ladies Eagles and Police and Fire Retirees, and she volunteers for Southern Care Hospice.

Mr. Ruse retired in January 1981 from the Youngstown Police Department, where he was reserve coordinator. He works for the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department. He belongs to Shrine Club, Masons, Austintown Eagles and Police and Fire Retirees. During World War II he served in the U.S. Coast Guard, and in the Korean War he served in the U.S. Navy.
