YSU LIVE | Penguins lead 49-17 early in fourth
Thanks to seven rushing TDs from three different running backs, the Youngstown State football team leads Central Connecticut State 49-17 early in the fourth quarter. The Penguins have outscored Central 35-3 since the early part of the second quarter.
Joe Izzo made a career-best 37-yard field goal to cut YSU's lead to 35-17 with 8:53 left. Central drove 75 yards in eight plays after starting from its own 5.
YSU answered, scoring its sixth rushing touchdown on a 23-yard run by sophomore Jamaine Cook. That carry gave him 179 yards and three TDs, both career-highs.
The good news for Central is Cook is probably done for the day. The bad news is YSU's backup running backs are just as good.
Adaris Bellamy scored a 4-yard TD — his second of the game — with 14:36 left in the fourth quarter. You're going to see a lot of YSU backups from here on out.
