YSU LIVE | Penguins lead 35-14 at halftime
Thanks to five rushing touchdowns by three different backs, the Youngstown State football team leads Central Connecticut State 35-14 at halftime.
Central has some good skill position players and a quarterback (Gunnar Jespersen) that can run and throw, but the Blue Devils' defense has no answers for YSU's offense. The Penguin backs have had some big holes and have been breaking arm tackles the whole first half. And YSU hasn't even gotten its best offensive player, Dominique Barnes, involved yet.
Honestly, it's looked like Central is playing defense with 10 guys for most of the first half.
YSU QB Kurt Hess has looked sharp since throwing his first career interception early in the game. He's 11 of 13 for 116 yards.
As for the RBs, Jamaine Cook has eight carries for 127 yards and two TDs, Jordan Thompson has seven carries for 26 yards and two TDs and Adaris Bellamy has three carries for 17 yards and a TD.
Thompson's second TD came on a fourth-and-goal at the Central 1 with 40 seconds left.
