A rain cloud covered band members as they performed at their annual Band Night Show.

The Boardman Spartan Marching Band, comprised of 265 members, performed on Spartan Stadium’s saturated football field Saturday. Spartans fans watched from underneath umbrellas and hoods as the band performed 11 musical selections.

Band director Thomas Ruggieri said that though the band was down 10 members compared to last year’s, he is pleased with the new band.

“There is an indescribable energy permeating from the band this year and everyone is embracing the hard work and preparing for a great marching season,” he said.

Inclement weather conditions did not stop the marching band from putting on a good show. Boardman resident Jayne Evans attended the Band Night Show to see her daughter, Erika, on the field. Despite the wet bleachers, she was satisfied with the band’s performance.

“The rain was a drag, but it still was an awesome show,” Evans said.
