Canfield residents to pay new gas rates
According to Canfield Township officials, new low fixed rates have been established for members of the township’s natural gas aggregation program.
Participating residents in the Dominion East Ohio service territory will pay a low rate of $5.9886 per mcf and residents in the Columbia Gas of Ohio service territory will pay a rate of $0.68446 per ccf. These rates are in effect for all gas consumed during the 12 months November 2010 through October 2011.
Vectren Source won a competitive bidding process and will replace IGS Energy as the program’s supplier.
“Wholesale natural gas prices are at 6-7 year lows and Canfield’s rates are being set at an excellent time,” said township trustee Tony Bettile. “We hope many residents and businesses will take advantage of our township’s program.” Bettile noted that Vectren has prepared two dedicated Web sites for Canfield Township residents to enroll, if they don’t want to wait for Vectren’s letter.
Dominion East Ohio customers can visit www.getnaturalgas.com/deocanfieldg and Columbia Gas of Ohio customers can visit www.getnaturalgas.com/cohcanfieldg.
Residents and businesses who haven’t chosen a supplier will receive an opt-out letter from Vectren Source on or around Oct. 22. These account holders will be automatically included in the township’s program unless they opt out during a 21-day period, as stated in the letter.
Anyone served by another supplier you should be aware of the obligations in their existing contract before joining the Canfield Township program, as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination.
New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of the utility’s Percentage of Income Payment Program (PIPP).
Do not call the township offices for more information. They are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls. Residents should contact Vectren Source at 800-608-8510 for information.
