Members of the youth group “nTransit” enjoyed one last swim party before going back to school.

Although some members missed out because of sports practices, those in attendance had a great time and are looking forward to the upcoming weekly gatherings that started Wednesday.

All middle school students from the surrounding area schools are welcomed.

“It’s a great opportunity to make friends with kids from other schools,” said Tyler Strickland, eighth-grader at Boardman Glenwood Middle School.

“nTransit” meets during the school year Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at 5248 Evangel Baptist Church on Southern Blvd., located one block south of Shields Road in Boardman.

The supervised hangout starts at 6:15 p.m. in the Youth Room and each week a topic/bible study is discussed, designed to meet the interactive, hands-on needs of the average middle school kid.

They learn in large and small group settings.

“I love doing all I can to help as many kids as possible experience many of the great times that I did when I was their age.” said Junior High Youth Director Breanna Rohrman.

Rohrman is studying Engineering at YSU, but still finds time to give back to the youth in the area who come together from a variety of schools in the area.

She enjoyed the youth group from grade six through 12 and had the opportunity to go on three missions trips to Tijuana, Mexico.

“We were able to help those less fortunate than us by building houses for them to live in,” she said.

New members are always welcome. Events throughout the year include a lot of parties, a retreat at Camp Burton, sleep over lock-ins, a can drive hunt, summer swim parties and more.
