ATHLETIC GROUPS

McDonald Sideliners will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

AUXILIARIES

Donald Lockett VFW Post 6488 Auxiliary will meet at 4 p.m. Sunday at the post home at 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road with Sandy Graves presiding. Inspection at 3 p.m. will be conducted by 8th District President Ronell Noack. Regular dues are being collected, and the life membership cancer fee is also payable. Refreshments will be served after the meeting.

CLASSES

South High School January and June Classes of 1953 will have a monthly luncheon at noon Tuesday at Johnny’s on Market Street in Boardman. All classmates are welcome.

Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1952 will meet for a luncheon from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Springfield Grille in Boardman. For more information contact Elaine Billett at 330-758-2045.

Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1953 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Johnny’s. Plans for a Christmas party will be discussed, and guests are welcome.

Ohio Cultural Alliance will explore Christopher Columbus as a “Resonating Voice of the World” at its Oct. 4 dinner meeting at St. Patrick Church Hall, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard. Dr. George D. Beelen will present the program, and dinner will be catered. Dr. Cynthia Anderson, Youngstown State University’s new president, will be a special guest. Cultural enrichment will be provided by young artists of Opera Western Reserve: soprano Shafic Kaleel and baritones Trevor Coleman and Max Pivik. They will perform selections from LaTraviata, which is OWR’s November production at Stambaugh Auditorium. Club memberships, which run from Sept. 2010 to June 2010, will continue at $25 per person, and the cost for each meeting will be $15 for each paid-up member and $20 for each nonmember. Youngstown South Christian Women’s Club has planned a luncheon with the theme “October Organizing” for noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 14 at Avion on the Water, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield. “What is Hiding in Your Closet?” is the feature, and the speaker is Velma Geis of Smithfield, Va. Linda Pantalone will provide music.
