New Middletown
Village police and humane agents from Animal Charity removed a dog considered vicious from a Middletown Road home Wednesday.
The boxer breed has bitten two children in the last two days, police said.
The dog’s owner, Penny Socha, will be arraigned next week on charges of violating the village’s dangerous and vicious-dog ordinance, which was passed in 2001.
“We haven’t had any significant dog bites for a long time, and then we had two in two days,” said Chief Vincent D’Egidio.
The children were bitten on the arm and are being treated by family doctors, according to a police release.
“The dog was always contained, but it was attacking without provo-cation,” D’Egidio said.
Socha also told police that the dog has bitten at least five people in the last year. The dog will be quarantined at Animal Charity for at least 20 days.
