Ohio museum display to focus on modern-day slavery

CINCINNATI (AP) — A Cincinnati museum devoted to the Underground Railroad is adding an exhibit on modern-day slavery and human trafficking to its permanent collection.

The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center focuses on the 19th century network that helped escaping slaves and on freedom around the world.

Freedom Center CEO Don Murphy said in a statement today that the new exhibit is in keeping with the museum’s mission of making the struggle for freedom “relevant and meaningful for today’s audiences.”

Officials say the “Invisible: Slavery Today” exhibit, opening Oct. 9, will explore sex trafficking, child labor and other forms of modern-day slavery and look at the scope and causes.
