ST. MARYS, Ohio
Police in New York say they have arrested a man wanted in Ohio for robbing and beating another man who was headed to his car after leaving a bar and later died.
New York State Police say 29-year-old Gordon Diggle III of St. Marys was arrested Monday night after troopers spotted his car crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge on northbound Interstate 87 in southeast New York.
The Lima News reports that Diggle is accused of beating 64-year-old Steven Casad of St. Marys on Sept. 8 in the small lakeside town in northwest Ohio. Casad died Sunday.
Police say Diggle was being held without bail Tuesday morning in a New York jail and was to appear in court for extradition proceedings.
WHIO-TV reports that it has been more than 12 years since St. Marys police have investigated a homicide.
