POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Sept. 12

Endangerment: Police received a call about a 3-year-old boy wandering alone near North Davis Street and Taylor Avenue. The child was returned to a family member uninjured.

Sept. 13

Assault: A man reported a woman had assaulted his 11-year-old son at a residence in the 100 block of Olive Street. The boy alleged the woman also had threatened to throw him out of a window.

Identity fraud: A Shawnee Drive man discovered his personal information had been used to open two accounts.

Breaking and entering: Several items were missing from a garage in the 200 block of Forsythe Avenue.

Harassment: A Crumlin Avenue man reported receiving between 20 and 25 harassing and obscene calls during a five-month period.

HUBBARD

Sept. 9

Theft: A worker for a West Liberty Street business noticed $60 missing from her purse.

Theft: A student at Reed Middle School, 150 Hall Ave., reported the theft of property.

Theft: An employee of the Emerald Diner, 825 N. Main St., accused a former worker of stealing money from the restaurant.

Sept. 11

Burglary: To a residence in the 200 block of Fifth Avenue.

Recovered property: A set of car keys was found after a Youngstown-Hubbard Road man had reported it stolen.

Sept. 12

Theft: A picnic table and a recycling bin were removed from a home in the 300 block of Scott Street.

Theft: A man stole two cartons of cigarettes from Hubbard Gas & Mini Mart, 175 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, then fled.

Assault: A Park Avenue man told officers a woman had attacked him, presumably because of money she said he owes her.

Sept. 13

Menacing: A Cyrus Street woman said a company failed to finish repairs to her residence and that two employees are harassing her for payment.

Theft: Guitars were stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Pine-view Drive.

Criminal damaging: Property damage was reported in the 900 block of Elmwood Drive.

LIBERTY

Sept. 9

Theft: A 9 mm semiautomatic firearm was stolen from a home in the 10 block of Holly Drive.

Auto theft: A 1995 Buick Century was stolen from a parking lot near Shannon and Tibbetts-Wick roads.

Theft: Hiram M. Stores, 56, of 113 Gordon St., Campbell, was charged with stealing two wristwatches from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Sept. 10

Theft: A charge was pending against a Youngstown woman, 29, after two pairs of undergarments and a bottle of lotion were stolen from Walmart.

Arrest: Officials with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency handed 26-year-old Kenneth R. Crawford, 3462 Niles-Carver Road, Mineral Ridge, to township police. Crawford was wanted on a felony charge of receiving stolen property.

Arrests: Police on Youngstown- Hubbard Road took into custody Jamie L. Villano, 22, of 318 Hall Ave., and 24-year-old Joshua A. Caldwell, 49 Cyrus St., both of Hubbard, on warrants. Villano also was charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments when, officers said, a hypodermic needle was found.

Sept. 11

Theft: A charge was pending against a Youngstown man, 18, after two video games were stolen from Walmart.

Sept. 12

Menacing: The owner of property on West Liberty Street reported an employee has been sending threatening text messages.

Recovered property: A worker for a Belmont Avenue motel reported a guest left $7,240 and four debit cards in a room.

Drugs/weapon: A traffic stop near Tibbetts-Wick Road led to the arrests of a Warren boy, 16, on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as 18-year-old Joseph B. Pinti, 1645 Hiram St., Niles, on charges of drug abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. A suspected marijuana pipe, two bags of suspected marijuana and a knife were found, a report said.

Arrest: Jerome Williams, 48, of Akron was taken into custody at the township administration building on Church Hill-Hubbard Road when he inquired about property that had been recovered. Williams was wanted on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and faced an additional charge of drug abuse when, police said, a suspected crack pipe was found.

Theft: Charges were pending against two Youngstown women, 25 and 35, after a pack of false eyelashes and a candy bar were stolen from Walmart.

Sept. 13

Drugs: Authorities investigated a suspicious vehicle on Lucretia Drive, where they charged 23-year-old Marguerite S. File, 1754 Lucretia, with permitting drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia and dangerous drugs, as well as 29-year-old Cassie F. Walker, 1750 Lucretia, with drug abuse and possession of dangerous drugs. A bag of suspected marijuana, a suspected marijuana pipe and loose pills were in the car that also contained a small child, a report showed.

Arrest: Police took custody of 55-year-old William Greer, 1422 Republic Ave., Youngstown. Greer was wanted by township authorities on a charge of passing a bad check.

Theft: Stephen R. Eagle, 27, of 1125 Keefer Road, Girard, was issued summonses on charges of theft and obstructing official business after a $20 high-definition TV cable was stolen from Walmart. He also provided a false name, police said.

Recovered property: A man found a personal check, a credit card and someone’s purse on property in the 1700 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Theft: A total of $220 in change was taken from three cars in the 1800 block of Pleasant Valley Road.
