Ohio State wants 4 percent more students by 2015
COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio State, already one of the nation’s largest universities, has announced a goal to boost enrollment by 4 percent or more within five years.
Officials say in a statement that the university wants to attract not only more freshmen but also more transfer and graduate students.
By 2015, the school wants to increase the size of its student population by at least 2,700, to more than 66,000.
Ohio State said Tuesday it wants quality, in addition to quantity. Its plan calls for drawing more freshmen who score highly on entrance exams and rank near the top of their high school class.
Dolan Evanovich, OSU's vice president for strategic planning, says the plan is in line with statewide goals for increasing the number of Ohio college graduates.
