SWCD to mark anniversary with picnic


CORTLAND

The Trumbull Soil & Water Conservation District will celebrate its 60th anniversary with an open-house picnic featuring locally grown produce and a chicken barbecue.

The SWCD annual meeting/open house will be at the Trumbull County Agriculture & Family Education Center, 520 W. Main St., at 1 p.m. Sunday with conservation awards announced at 3 p.m. At 4 p.m., the announcement of the newly elected supervisor will be made.

There will be children’s activities and tours of the gardens and facility.

Voting for a SWCD supervisor will occur from 1 to 3 p.m. The candidates are Kevin Diehl of Champion, Bruce Lev of Liberty, Roberta Smith of Kinsman and Renee Wilson of Warren. The position will be for a three-year term starting January 2011.
