Sexual battery case

WARREN

James G. Binion, 45, of Hubbard was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to committing sexual battery against a 15-year-old girl in early 2009.

Binion was indicted on two counts of rape and was scheduled to go on trial Monday before Judge W. Wyatt McKay of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. His guilty plea avoided the trial.

Binion got the maximum prison term allowed for the two third-degree felonies. Part of his sentence is that he must register in person as a sex offender in his county of residence every 90 days for the rest of his life, said Diane Barber, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor.

Binion was sentenced to a year in prison in 2002 after being convicted in Trumbull County of four counts of gross sexual imposition, which required him to register as a sexually oriented offender.

In July 2009, Binion was indicted for failing to notify the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office of his change of address and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
