Fatal crash probed
NEW CASTLE, pa.
New Castle police said they are still investigating a traffic accident involving Russell Cade, 75, of New Castle that occurred about 8:10 p.m. Friday.
The crash was in the 600 block of South Cascade between Grandview and Butler avenues. Cade, who was driving a 2005 Saturn SUV, was going south on Cascade Street when his vehicle crossed the center line and hit a utility pole. The vehicle then hit a construction sign, flipped onto its roof and continued until it hit two buildings. The SUV then hit another utility pole before stopping.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Lawrence County deputy coroner.
Other accidents
BEAVER COUNTY, pa.
Pennsylvania State Police in Beaver County are investigatiing two accidents that occurred Friday evening.
Erica J. Keppel, 29, of Clinton, Pa., was driving north in the 600 block of Brocktown Cork Road in Independence Township. Another vehicle crossed the road, hit her vehicle and continued without stopping. Police said they were not sure if she was injured.
At 8:15 p.m., Winston C. Chevalier, 22, of Beaver Falls, Pa., was driving east on state Route 3042 when a deer ran into his path. He swerved to avoid the deer, lost control, and his Subaru went off the berm, up an embankment and rolled onto its roof.
He was not injured.
OVI enforcement
CANFIELD TOWNSHIP
The Mahoning County OVI Task Force arrested three drivers on suspicion of being impaired during an enforcement effort at the intersection of Tippecanoe and Shields roads from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday.
The three people had an average blood-alcohol content of 0.145, police said.
Other action taken: four charged with driving under suspension; one charged with not having a license; five miscellaneous citations; four other arrests; four vehicles seized; and one speeding citation.
Pasture walk
DIAMOND
A pasture walk will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 on the Campbell family beef farm, 16200 Palmyra Road.
Participants will learn about the changes the Campbell operation has seen in regard to cow size, calving season and watering systems. Stockpiled forages for winter feeding also will be discussed.
Refreshments will be provided after the walk.

Candidates night
BOARDMAN
The Mahoning County Young Republicans will host a candidates night with those running for county, state legislative and congressional races at 7 p.m. Wednesday at county GOP headquarters, 621 Boardman-Canfield Road.
The event is open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.
