vJohn Steven Bloom, 2 p.m.: Magician- illusionist on stage at New Castle Playhouse, 202 E. Long Ave., New Castle, Pa.; 724-654-3437.

“THE 2010 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS” (9 p.m., MTV): Will there be another debacle to match the buzz-making weirdness of last year’s Kanye West and Taylor Swift run-in? We can only hope. With its clunky moon-man trophy, the “VMAs” might not be the most prestigious awards show, but it’s often the most bizarre — and entertaining. This year should be no exception as Lady Gaga, the first lady of outlandishness, heads up the nomination list with 13. (Last year, she smeared herself in stage blood). Will be interesting to see whether brassy host Chelsea Handler can keep all the deviants in check.

“True Blood” (9 p.m., HBO): We’re expecting a fang-tastic Season 3 finale from “True Blood” as Sookie (Anna Paquin) seriously considers a Vampire-free lifestyle, and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) plots vicious revenge against Russell. Season finales of “Hung” and “Entourage” follow.

“Swamp People” (10 p.m., History channel): All you need to know about the latest episode of “Swamp People” is that it contains a huge cannibal alligator they call Godzilla. What’s not to love about huge cannibal alligators?
