Surprise party honors the Vellys on anniversary

Paul and Georgia Velly of Austintown were honored during a surprise party at Rachael’s Restaurant as they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 18.

The party was given by their daughters, Lisa Velly (Lloyd Alvardo), who were unable to attend; Pauly (Terry Sr.) Henry, Tracey Hernandez (Eddie Hines), and Michele Velly. The family includes nine grandchildren.

The couple were married. Aug. 18, 1960, in New Castle, Pa., and renewed their vows April 18 at Wickliffe Presbyterian Church where they have been members for 50 years.

They will continue the anniversary celebration by taking a trip to Branson, Mo., in October.

The couple spend summers at their campground at Indian Creek, Geneva, and winters in Vero Beach,Fla.

Mr. Velly is retired from General Motors, Lordstown, and Mrs. Velly is retired from Indian Creek Camping Resort.
