SENIOR SIDELIGHTS

Niles SCOPE Senior Center, 14 E. State St., will offer beginning computer classes for seniors from Sept. 21 to Oct. 7 at the McKinley House on Main Street, Niles. Doorside parking is available behind the facility. The six classes will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $10 for SCOPE members and $20 for nonmembers. Pre-registration is required and can be made by stopping at the center.

The center has also planned the following: Monday, bridge at 10 a.m., Arthritis Foundation exercise, 11 a.m. ($1), quilting and player’s choice cards at 1 p.m., Monday Night Cards includes sandwich and salad, 4-8 p.m. ($2), weight loss support group, 5-8 p.m.; Tuesday, square dancing with Norm Flavell ($3), lunch ($3 for members, $4 for others) 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., arthritis aerobics, 12:30 p.m. ($1), cards, 1 p.m., pinochle, 2:30 p.m., boccie at Waddell Park, 6 p.m.; Wednesday, chair yoga, 10 a.m. ($1), lunch, 11:30 a.m. ($3 for members, $4 for others), bingo, Texas Hold’em, 1 p.m., cards, 2:30 p.m; Thursday, line dancing, 9:30 a.m. ($3), lunch, 11:30 a.m., ($3 members, $4 others), bowling at McKinley Lanes, pinochle, and bridge, 1 p.m.; Friday, boccie at Waddell Park and free art class, 10 a.m., arthritis exercise, 11 a.m. ($1), salad and sandwich, 11:30 a.m. ($2), hand and foot card game, Jo-Ba, and more card games, pool table, piano and television available when not in conflict with other activities, 1 p.m. Upcoming events: Biltmore/Asheville, N.C./Harrah’s Casino Sept. 13-16; Wheeling Downs, Sept. 24, Rock comes to Warren Sept. 25, and Sept. 28, craft show, noon to 6 p.m., seeking crafters.

Senior Independence Senior Center of Mahoning County, 1110 Fifth Ave., Youngstown, has planned the following: Monday, Men’s and Women’s Needlecraft Club at 8:30, chair yoga at 10 and bridge at 1 P.M.; Tuesday, oil painting at 10, computer class at 10 and noon, exercise at noon, and Digital Club at 2; Wednesday, watercolor class at 10 a.m., Tap class at noon, Tai Chi and 500 cards at 1 p.m., and digital club at 2; Thursday, Watch Our Weight and Woodcarvers at 9 a.m., exercise at noon, line dancing at 1 p.m. and beginner line dancing at 2; and Friday, board games and parties. Special activities include : Wednesday, Lake Milton Fun Day 10 a.m., Thursday, Boardman Fun Day at 10, and Sept. 17 Sebring Fun Day.
