Pharmacy degree

Bethany Ann Rouan, the daughter of Tim and Sherry Gleason of Mineral Ridge and Kevin and Ava Rouan of Youngstown, received a doctorate of pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University in Ada.

She graduated with honors with a 3.49 grade-point average.

She is employed by BioScrip Corp. in Columbus as a pharmacist in the specialty pharmacy division.

She lives in Worthington, a Columbus suburb, and will be married to Matthew Glidewell on Sept. 25.

LEADERSHIP

Court of appeals

Judge Gene Donofrio of the 7th District Court of Appeals, based in Youngstown, has been elected chief justice of the Ohio Courts of Appeals Judges Association.

Judge Donofrio was sworn in last week by Chief Justice Eric Brown of the Ohio Supreme Court, and he will assume association leadership Jan. 1.

The association consists of 69 judges who serve on Ohio’s 12 appellate courts. The primary purpose of appellate courts is to hear appeals from common pleas, municipal and county courts.

The 7th District Court of Appeals hears cases from Mahoning, Columbiana, Carroll, Jefferson, Harrison, Belmont, Noble, and Monroe counties.

Judge Donofrio, 57, has served on the appellate court since 1993. He received his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University in 1975 and his law degree from the University of Akron, College of Law, in 1978. He was in general practice for more than 14 years before being elected to the court.

He has worked as an assistant Youngstown prosecutor, assistant Mahoning County prosecutor, an Ohio assistant attorney general and served as counsel for Mahoning County Treasurer’s office.

He and his wife, Janet, have three children and live in Canfield.
