CANFIELD

Canfield Junior Women’s League has scheduled its annual Fall Market on the Green for Sept. 18.

The event is free to the community and will feature more than 100 vendors who will be displaying a wide variety of crafts, antiques, seasonal decorations and fresh produce from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For the second year, at the south end of the green, there will be pumpkin decorating from noon to 2 p.m., face painting and entertainment by a clown for children 5 to 10 years of age.

The Fall Market on the Green is not a profit maker for the organization. It is a fundraiser for scholarships for area students.

To raise the necessary funds, the league charges vendors $60 for a 12x12 foot space. The proceeds are used to provide three $1,000 scholarships for Canfield High School graduates. The league has been granting the scholarships for the past 41 years.

Proceeds from this year’s market will be held until next June when the scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who anonymously compete for the funds by completing an essay. A panel of judges select the winning essays.

Recipients of the 2010 scholarships were Kendal Malsch and Breann Machingo, who are attending Youngstown State University, and Rebecca Brown, a student at John Carroll University.

Serving as chairwomen for this year’s Market on the Green are Rhonda Rance and Danielle Strock.
