Ferguson 60th is celebrated at family dinner

Grace Evangelical Church on the North Side of Youngstown was the setting Sept. 2, 1950, as Bill Ferguson and Delores Yeckel were united in marriage. The 60th anniversary of that event was celebrated Sept. 4 as Mr. and Mrs. Ferguson were honored by their family during a dinner at Rachel’s Westchester Restaurant and Bar.

Gathering for the 5 p.m. event were their children and their spouses, Lloyd and Barb Caves and Dianne and Charles D. Carman, all of Youngstown; William and Leanne Ferguson of Ravenna; Francine and James Thompson of Kialua, Hi.; Carol and Steve Mancine of San Diego; and Susan and George Prenatt of Gary, N.C. Also participating were their 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Hosts for the festivity were Mrs. Carman and Mr. Caves.

Mrs. Ferguson was employed in the shipping department at F. A. Pilgrim Extrusion from 1968 until retiring in 1976.

Mr. Ferguson left Hayes Junior High School to work at U.S. Steel. In 1955 he began working at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Plant in Campbell, and in 1972 was tested for a GED diploma and enrolled at Youngstown State University for mechanical drawing and supervisor’s training. He was employed as an electrical foreman at Youngstown Sheet an Tube until the plant closed in 1984. He is an Army veteran and a member of the VFW Post 4237.
