YSU LIVE | Penguins beat Butler 31-7

A 25-yard TD run by Adaris Bellamy with 14:09 left in the fourth quarter gave the YSU football team a 31-7 win over Butler at Stambaugh Stadium.

Thanks to an 86-yard kickoff return by Dominique Barnes, the YSU football team finally took control of its home opener and led 24-7 after three quarters.

It was the second-longest punt return in school history.

Butler's offense dominated the quarter but a missed field goal on one drive and a key Luke Matelan sack on another kept the Bulldogs from scoring. Butler's final possession of the third quarter resulted in a three-and-out and the punt return may have had something to do with that.

Incidentally, Butler kick away from Barnes on its ensuing punt.

YSU was driving as the quarter closed -- the Penguins are really starting to run the ball well -- and will have a first down at the Butler 33 when the final quarter begins.
