Your gas bill won’t be so bad

According to Poland Village officials, members of the village’s natural gas aggregation program will pay a low fixed rate of $5.9886 per mcf for all gas consumed from November 2010 through October 2011.

Vectren Source won a competitive bid process and will replace IGS Energy as the program’s supplier.

“Wholesale natural gas prices are at six to seven-year lows and Poland’s rates are being set at an excellent time. We hope many residents and businesses will take advantage of our village’s program,” said Mayor Tim Sicafuse.

Mark Burns, president of Independent Energy Consultants, is happy to offer the new rates.

“Poland’s expiring rate of $6.39/mcf proved to be an excellent rate and we are delighted to have been able to strike an even lower rate for their residents and businesses,” he said.

Residents and businesses who have not chosen a supplier will receive an opt-out letter from Vectren Source around Oct. 22.

These account holders will be automatically included in the village’s program unless they opt out during a 21-day period as stated in the letter.

“We are pleased to be the village’s new supplier. We know this is a busy time of year for residents having to make natural gas choices. Any resident or small business currently served by another supplier should receive a solicitation letter from Vectren Source or may join the village’s program by calling Vectren Source at 800-608-8510,” said Tami Wilson, president of Vectren Source.

Wilson said residents being served by another supplier should be aware of the obligations in the existing contract before joining the Poland Village program, as many suppliers charge a penalty for early termination.

New customers to the program must be in good standing and cannot be part of the utility’s Percentage of Income Payment Program.

Residents should contact Vectren Source at 800-608-8510 for more information. Do not call the Village offices.
