Back to school excitement filled Hilltop Elementary School as students were given the opportunity to meet their teachers for the upcoming school year at the annual Hilltop Meet and Greet event and student and parent visitation Aug. 31.

Kindergarten students were invited to the Hilltop Meet and Greet to meet their teacher, go on a tour of their new classroom and get a feel for their new school. The kindergarten teachers explained to the students what they would learn in kindergarten and what they expect of the students. The teachers read a book to the students and then invited them look around the classroom and familiarize themselves with the room.

Times were assigned for grades one through four to come to the school for parent and student visitation. This was a chance for the students to meet their teacher, check out their new classrooms, see who was in their class and catch up with classmates.

“This is a day full of smiles,” said Cathy Mowry, Hilltop Elementary School principal. “This day helps start the school year on a positive note.”

Teachers and support staff were available during the day to answer any questions the students or parents may have had. The students were also encouraged to bring their school supplies to put in their desks so they will be ready to go on the first day of school.

The Hilltop PTO set up a table in the lobby to welcome the students and parents and sold Canfield Cardinal merchandise, including book covers, pencils, rulers, water bottles and note pads.
