Food collection under way at mall

NILES

Eastwood Mall and several merchants are teaming up to help the Second Harvest Food Bank collect food for the BackPack Program, a national program of feeding America.

Customers are asked to deposit nonperishable, child-friendly food items in bins today and Sunday at the customer service center, Captain McFinn Gift Shop, Big Lots, the Art Outreach Gallery and in the Target concourse. Donors will have a chance to win a loaded backpack.

Pork chop dinner

JACKSON CENTER, PA.

Vincent United Methodist Church, Walnut Street, will serve stuffed pork chop dinners beginning at 12:30 Sunday. Meals include potato, salad, vegetable coleslaw and dessert. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.

East High 1945 class plans reunion

East High School Class of 1945 will have its 65-year reunion at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Holiday Inn in Boardman. Special guests from out of town will attend.

Judge to speak

SALEM

Columbiana County Municipal Judge Carol Robb will make a return visit to a meeting of the Salem Historical Society on Tuesday to present the program “Lawyer’s Memorial, a County Tradition.” The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the society’s meeting room and will be followed by the program. Citizens association meeting set

Northeast Homeowners and Concerned Citizens Association will resume monthly meetings at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, 920 Dryden Ave. Guest speaker will be Jean Engle, co-president of Treez Please, who will share information about the organization and how it is working to create more green space in the city. Class breakfast

Campbell Memorial High School January and June classes of 1948 will meet for breakfast at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Denny’s in Boardman. All classmates and guests are welcome.

Barnhisel House open for tours

The Barnhisel House, 1011 N. State St., will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday and Sept. 26 for public tours and for students to tour the facility and take pictures. Arrangements can be made by calling 330-545-6162.

Square dancing lessons available

Couples and singles are invited to free fun nights to be sponsored by the Shenango Valley Sashayers.

Lessons in modern Western style square dancing will be taught at the events from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday and Sept. 20 at the Salvation Army Building, 660 Fisher Hill St.
