$250,000 for sewer
VIENNA
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, has announced that $250,000 for sewer construction along state Route 193 in Vienna Township has been awarded to Trumbull County through the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The money will be used on the third phase of the Little Squaw Creek Interceptor project, which will benefit 37 homes and 17 businesses. Total cost for phase three is $1.9 million.
About two years ago, Congress added Trumbull, Mahoning and Ashtabula counties to the 29 Ohio counties that were part of the commission. Columbiana County already was part of the ARC.
Benches vandalized

The city park-maintenance crew called police about 1:30 p.m. Thursday to Tod Park, where three park benches were vandalized. The benches, near the boccie court, were broken and pushed off their foundations. No estimate of damage was given.

Liberty Historical Society and the township administration will sponsor a Celebration in the Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Church Hill Park, Belmont Avenue.
The event will include a car show, music by the Classic Cruisers, crafts, displays, an auction and food vendors.
This event also is a fundraiser for a community center to be built at 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, the site of the administration building.

Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital’s 21st annual Cancer Survivorship Day will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lincoln School, 2253 Atlantic St.
Dr. A. Shayesteh, a board-certified nutritionist and diabetes educator, will present “Good Nutrition is the Key for Healthy Living.” The day’s program also will include instruction on chair yoga provided by Dawn Perhacs and Beth Montgomery; an art project by Mary Beth Wensel; a message on gratitude by cancer patient Patty Grolemund and conclude with a butterfly release. Teddy Pantelas will perform inspirational music. Refreshments will be served.

Alliance Community Hospital is hosting “A Touch Of Life: Jump Starting your Kangaroo Care & Lactation Program” from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Friday in Aultman Hospital’s Morrow House Auditorium. The conference provides information to assist caregivers who work with parents of newborns. The registration deadline is Sunday.
Susan M. Ludington is the guest speaker and is sponsored by the Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary, the Alliance chapter of the Ohio Nursing Association, Aultman Hospital and the Ohio Lactation Consultant Association.

Warriors Inc. is offering an eight-week computer class to the public beginning Tuesday and continuing every Tuesday through Nov. 9.
Participants will learn computer basics, such as letter writing, r sum writing, shopping, paying bills and researching.
