McKay to retire from UCFC

Douglas McKay, chief executive of United Community Financial Corp., the parent company of Home Savings & Loan, announced Wednesday that he will retire at the end of 2010.

He also will retire from the boards of both companies.

McKay, the great- grandson of Home Savings founder James McKay, has been UCFC’s chief executive since the company was created in 1998. He has been with Home Savings since 1971.

Patrick Bevack, Home Savings chief executive, will take over at the helm of UCFC after McKay’s retirement, in addition to keeping his role at Home Savings.

UCFC director Richard Schiraldi has been named the independent, nonexecutive chairman of the boards of UCFC and Home Savings, effective this month.
