Freedom Walk to honor veterans, Sept. 11 victims
Special to The Vindicator
LAKE MILTON
A Freedom Walk to commemorate lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and to honor veterans will be at 6 p.m. Saturday beginning at Lake Shore Plaza on Mahoning Avenue.
The walk will end at American Legion Post 737 on Milton Avenue.
The “America Supports You Freedom Walk” was started in Lake Milton three years ago by Colton Lockner, a 13-year-old Jackson Milton Middle/High School student. Lockner has had similar walks in Sebring.
Rick Mirenzi of Veteran Connections and Scott Warner, father of fallen Marine Heath Warner, will speak at the event. The Jackson-Milton marching band and cheerleaders will perform.
More than 390 Freedom Walks have taken place in all 50 states and at military installations around the globe since the first walk in 2005.
