COLUMBIANA

The Columbiana Street Fair starts today and runs through Saturday.

“It’s the 124th annual fair,” said David Reach, “except one year when they didn’t have it during World War II.”

The Columbiana Street Fair is run by the Benjamin Firestone Post 290 of the American Legion.

Brown’s Amusement Co. from Cortland will again provide the rides.

Reach has been involved in running the fair for 16 years.

The event began as a “fall get together” with bicycle races and bingo games.

Merchants now will fill a tent 220 feet long by 40 feet wide with their products.

“It’s always a great time of year,” he said.

A parade will be at 6:30 p.m. today starting at the Firestone Pool. From there it will go west past East Park Drive to the traffic circle, north on North Main Street, and then east on Herbster Street, where the parade will disband.

For entertainment, “Kelly and Al” will perform rock and roll music from 7:45 to 10:45 p.m. today.

“Kassie and Simpson” will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and “Mirror Image” will perform from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., all on Friday.

On Saturday, Joy Walker will perform from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; Sara Severko will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. “The Tribute Band” will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday.
