Comedian Jeff Dunham presented the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley with a check for $10,000 Monday after his performance at the Canfield Fair.
Dunham, who was part of the fair lineup that included singers Dierks Bentley and Gretchen Wilson, brought along his puppets for an evening show.
Dunham regularly takes $1 from each ticket sold for a show and makes donations to local food banks and The Red Cross, according to his website www.jeffdunham.com/charity.
“That’s one of the larger gifts we’ve ever received from an individual,” said Michael Iberis, executive director at Second Harvest.
Iberis, who was at the presentation during which Dunham announced his donation, said, “We are going to make sure that more people in the region that are in need are going to receive food.”
Dunham is known for his edgy humor and creation of seven regular puppets used during his show including Walter, Peanut and Jose Jalapeno on a Stick.
Tickets for Dunham’s show on Monday cost $37 to $68.
